Eric C. Edstrom, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Eric Edstrom was born and raised in Dickinson, North Dakota. He attended the University of North Dakota, where he was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. He then earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UCLA on a Regents Scholarship, an honor given to the top six incoming freshmen. In his junior year, Dr. Edstrom received the William S. Kramer award from Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society as the #1 student in his class. He was given full membership in OKU his senior year. Dr. Edstrom completed his orthodontic training at USC, receiving a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology and a Certificate in Orthodontics. He then began practicing orthodontics in Santa Barbara in 1990.

Dr. Edstrom is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the California State Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Santa Barbara- Ventura County Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Edstrom enjoys cycling, travelling, and spending time doing all that Santa Barbara has to offer.

Adam Swenson, D.M.D., M.S.

Dr. Adam Swenson grew up in San Diego and received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego. He went on to study dentistry at Boston University where he graduated at the top of his class, receiving the Excellence in Patient Care award and invitation into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Dr. Swenson completed his residency in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Colorado, where he also earned his master’s degree, focusing his research on the temporomandibular joint. In his final year at CU, this research was nominated for oral presentation at CU’s Research Symposium and was selected for publication.

Before returning west, Dr. Swenson practiced at one of the largest private orthodontic offices in New York, well-known for exceptional patient care. He directed the office’s Invisalign program and also used the highest technology braces and techniques to decrease treatment time while increasing patient comfort. Dr. Swenson is grateful to be in a profession he loves and has pursued advanced training in Invisalign, lingual orthodontics, temporary anchorage devices and temporomandibular joint dysfunction treatment.

Believing that form follows function, Dr. Swenson loves helping his patients achieve both a beautiful smile and a bite that supports dental and jaw-joint health. He believes that patients should be educated about the orthodontic process and encourages them to take an active role in their treatment. Dr. Swenson aims to foster an office culture founded on humility and service such that patients enjoy their journey through orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Swenson met his wife Anna when they were both undergraduates at UC San Diego. They have one son, Ezra, and a daughter Marie! In his spare time, Dr. Swenson enjoys digging “sand tunnels” with his children at the beach, spending time with his family, date nights with his wife, surfing the California coast, reading philosophy, hiking and being active in his church. Dr. Swenson loves meeting new people and looks forward to helping you achieve a personalized smile that you will love.
